You can now use Xcode’s command-line tools without having Xcode installed. This is convenient for those with small SSD hard drives because Xcode is enormous. You may be tempted to throw Xcode in the trash, and that is the correct way to uninstall it now. If you do you may not be able to run
gcc and related commands—they will complain about the missing Xcode. Here is how to fix it:
sudo unlink xcode_dir_link
sudo rm xcode_dir_path
